[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Me: “I’m going to get a good night’s sleep tonight.”
Me at 1 AM: “Why am I on Youtube watching how-to videos of things I’ll never do?”
For most of us, sleep and relaxation are things we cherish and adore, yet we don’t give them the attention they deserve and need. Why is it so difficult to detach ourselves from constant stimulus?
If you read our last blog on New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home, we challenge you to seek personal growth, in 2018, through changes in your home and daily routine. True rest and true relaxation are crucial aspects of our overall well-beings and are necessary to this growth. But where does this rest and relaxation happen? The bedroom.
Let’s explore how to transform your bedroom into a sanctuary of peace. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”4880″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]
DE-CLUTTER
Think about how amazing and refreshing it feels to be in a clean, organized room.
Innately stress-inducing, clutter is your worst enemy. Your brain needs order and white space to calm itself. And it order for it to do this, it requires the spaces around it to possess order and white space.
As your bedroom becomes a space of simplicity, cleanliness, and order, your brain will follow. This is essential to a peaceful state-of-mind.
Additionally, your brain is still aware of clutter, even while sleeping. With stress as its response, your sleep will suffer.
That being said, we aren’t saying you have to scrape your room of anything and everything. Utilize storage, rid yourself of unnecessary and unused belongings, and keep crap off the floor. It’s simple and extremely effective.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”4879″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]
NO ELECTRONICS ALLOWED
A face made visible by the glow of a cell phone or computer is an occurrence too often seen in modern bedrooms. With tech addiction on a constant rise, the use of electronics at night can be extremely detrimental to your quality of sleep and relaxation.
We know using the disclaimer, ‘Studies have shown’, can seem corny and cliche, but even through our own experiences, too much screen time makes it harder to fall asleep and leads to a lower quality of sleep. Our challenge for you is to keep all electronics out of reach past 9 PM. We understand most of you use your cell phone as your alarm clock, so adjust your sound/notification settings to only play sound when an alarm is activated. This will likely be the most difficult task for transforming your bedroom into a sanctuary, but we promise it will be the most rewarding. CREATE WHITE NOISE
Simply put, white noise is better noise. Disturbances to our sleep are caused by changes in noise, not noise itself. Used to mask these changes, white noise aids in achieving a deeper, higher-quality sleep.
Whether it’s a fan or white noise machine, a constant, calming noise can be the difference between sanctuary and chaos.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”4877″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]
CALMING COLORS
Color is powerful. When it comes to creating a calm atmosphere, warmth is paramount.
Lucky for you, Sage is not only perfect for creating a warm, tranquil atmosphere, it is also predicted to top the podium as 2018’s most popular color. So, get your painting pants on and start rollin’. THE QUEEN, OR KING, OF THE BEDROOM
Pun intended, your bed itself is crucial to the sanctuary transformation.
From queen to king, firm to soft, and pillowful to pillowless, create a stage suited for you comfort needs. Because this area is subjective, we don’t have any concrete recommendations. All we ask is that you take the resources necessary to invest in a quality mattress.
We find it amazing how many people don’t put forth the focus and resources needed to create a sanctuary for sleep and relaxation. With so much of your overall well-being relying on proper sleep and relaxation, we strongly encourage you to make your bedroom a larger focus in your life.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text]As the new year presents its challenges, it is our hope that this guide will infuse some additional structure into your daily life and allow 2018 to be your year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][/vc_column]
